Last month Lady Ambrosia Noir, one of the most notorious Melbourne Dominatrixes (and one of my BFFs!) called up and invited me to go to a burlesque show with her. I’d never been to a proper burlesque show before, but I knew that as someone who had learned burlesque, she would only invite me to the best shows. It was called “Greatest T.I.T.S (Totally Inclusive Theatrical Spectacular) ft. THE FREAK AND THE SHOWGIRL”. It sounded interesting so I agreed to go.
I decided to doll up before I went out. I’m rather a home-body and I hate leaving my computer, so it was nice to have an opportunity worth wearing my antique diamond sapphire necklace and earring set. I inherited them and my mink coats some time ago but rarely do I find myself wearing them out on the town. (Although I can often be found lounging about home in my furs. So warn and soft!) While I love costume jewelry for costumes, when it comes to every day and evening wear it’s all about quality for me!
Ambrosia was wearing her latest couture fashion find, a cardigan I’d been aching to pickup myself to be honest. Nothing is quote so nice and feminine as a high quality, cardigan with such elaborate and delicate details. I’m sad I didn’t get a better picture of us together, but the lighting inside was very dark indeed! We got a table to ourselves right beside the stage.
I took this cheeky up skirt pic to show off my new garter belt and stockings while Ambrosia got us drinks. No one was watching under the table. I AM THE SEXY STEALTH QUEEEENNNNNN!
At the begining of the show there was a lovely mention to the decently passed away, and much loved local activist Stella Young, who some of you may know from her TED Talk “I’m not your inspiration, thank you very much.“(I highly recommend watching if you haven’t seen it already)
The show itself was amazing!! The description “Leave your political correctness, your stiff upper lip and your conservative streak at home,” says Mat Fraser. “And come to be freaked out and sexed up, with The Freak and the Showgirl!” was certainly apt. I do enjoy dark and sexy humor. Often minorities are ignored when it comes to sex, but their desires, needs and sexuality should be acknowledged and celebrated like anyone else. The Crazy Blonde and the Sealboy Mutant as they are adorably dubbed make a wonderful performing team. They admitted to being married (awww!) which would explain the amazingly sexy and comical chemistry between them, aside from their many, many years experience in performing arts.
The show pulled no punches, and was unabashedly sexual and devious, just the way I like my burlesque, and my life!
My favorite act was right at the start, and was performed by Julie Atlas Muz, the showgirl. Chewing and spitting donuts dressed as a fat, crooked cop, the skit was as funny as it was sexy. Poor (Lucky, actually) Lady Ambrosia copped a donut to the boob and a scowl from the fat officer. It, like all the other skits during the night was very clever. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, as I know at least one person who reads this is attending tonight’s show. You are going to have a blast!!
If you are in Melbourne there are still tickets available for tonight’s show. Also they have really hilarious swag. I’m sad I didn’t get a tea-towel. Details are HERE. Treat yourself!
